FROM THE ITC GRAND GOA

                "KARMIC CONNECT WITH ITC"

The work culture at ITC Group of Hotels “says Assistant Master Chef Mohd. Farhan (35), ITC Grand Goa” is incredibly elevating and inspiring”.

Presently, Farhan is the Chief Priest at the Kebabs & Kurries Restaurant of this iconic hotel. This eatery is blessed with an entrancing landscape.

“We have been trained and taught very well. It is gratifying to note that the Chefs have been given a free hand to be as creative and innovative as possible. We have been taught to respect senior staff members as well. It is a very homely atmosphere at ITC Grand Goa”.

Mohd. Farhan had joined ITC Kakatiya at Hyderabad in 2003 as Commis 3. After working for eight years at that hotel, he tried his luck at five different hotel brands for the next six years. Joined back ITC, at Grand Central Mumbai as Assistant Master Chef in 2016.

Since September 2018, he is wedded to ITC Grand, Goa.

Farhan’s family has a karmic connect with ITC. Interestingly, his father Haji Mohd Farooqui had retired two years back after serving the ITC Group of Hotels for 35 long years. He retired as the Master Chef from ITC Grand Central, Mumbai. His elder brother Lukman Farooq is the Master Chef at ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru presently. His younger brother Subhan, is also working at the Goa property for the last nine months.

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) born Farhan is grateful to Fida Ali (then Senior Chef De Partie at ITC Kakatiya, Hyderabad) who taught him the first lessons of a ‘Five Star’ hotel kitchen culture. He was inspired by his grandfather Haji Fakre Alam, who was into the catering business. When Farhan was just 10 years old, he had knowledge on ingredients and flavours related to ‘Nawabi Khana’.

Justifiably, the Food Festival orchestrated in the month of June 2019-“ Ramzan Special Biriyani Festival”, pitched at the Kebabs and Kurries Restaurant was a huge success. Foodies of Goa, as well as the Room Guests at the ITC Grand, Goa applauded his innovative dishes as well as spectacular food presentation. Succulent Kebabs. Distinctively delicious curries...that is the unique selling point of the eatery.

Married to Farha Rahman. She is a homemaker. His daughter Khuba Fatima is five years old. Cooking itself is Farhan’s hobby.

Opines Farhan’s colleague Prakash Singh Khetwal (Senior Sous Chef): “He is very open minded and friendly. He pens poems. He sings very well too”.

“Farhan is one of the most favourite Chefs of this resort. His culinary philosophy is that good food will always bring a smile to the guests around him” says Bhagwan Balani, General Manager, ITC Grand Goa).

May Allah bless Chef Mohd. Farhan in abundance.
