FROM THE LE MERIDIEN, KOCHI......................2

                   A CREATIVE PAIR OF HANDS

The first day it was a crocodile, and then it was an elephant and then later came and sat two swans. All of them were sitting on my bed.

I am talking about the splendid towel art display at Le Meridian Kochi. I was really impressed by it - and the artist is the 21 year old bespectacled Salahudheen - a hardworking superstar of the Housekeeping team of this hotel.

Many things at Le Meridian Kochi inspired me. First of all, the suite room – it was luxurious and opulent. The oneness of the housekeeping team and their abundance mentality. The rains. (It is raining heavily in Kerala). Incredible backwater views, the lush greenery, replete with coconut trees. Unparalleled peace and tranquillity….and of course the towel art.

Cheranalloor born Salahudheen was inspired by his seniors at Le Meridien, Kochi. His Supervisor Prajith and Executive Aswathi were his main sources of inspiration. Both of them were very adept in towel art.  Interestingly yet another Supervisor Shanthi also helped him to sharpen his skills. After passing out from FCI Kalamassery (Diploma in Hotel Management) he worked for a year at Spice Village, Thekkady, Kerala. That was for the first time, he came to know about towel art.

At Le Meridian Kochi, his seniors in the Housekeeping department were magnanimous enough to teach him and encourage him to do more.

Swans, Elephants, Crocodile, Monkey, Dog, Fish and Goat are just some of the masterpieces of this young Keralite. He is very adept in fusing floral designs along with his towel art. He has promised me that during my next visit in September, he will display his talent in floral design too for me. I am eagerly looking forward to the same by the way.
“He is a very good worker”, says P.K.Elizabeth, the Executive Housekeeper of this hotel.

His elder brother Jalaludheen is also working in the hotel industry. He is at Hilton, in Saudi Arabia.
Salahudheen lives with his parents in Cheranalloor, Kochi. He has been working at Le Meridien, Kochi for the last 14 months.

Football is his main hobby. He is part of the Le Meridian, Kochi Football team.

"The working environment here is too good. All the Supervisors are very supportive and understanding and I am very happy here" says Salahudheen.

May the talented Salahudheen dazzle and delight many more guests in the days to come!

I wish him the very best!
