"ONCE TRAINED, EWD's ARE BETTER THAN NORMAL EMPLOYEES"
"Syed
Asadullah Hussain(25), a SHI (Speech and Hearing Impaired) employee working at the
Citrine Cafe, the 94 seater, all-day dining Coffee shop located at the lobby
level of the Lemon Tree Hotel,
Gachibowli, Hyderabad, has got the innate knack of anticipating the needs
of the guests. He is active, smart and proactive.
He always carries a scribbling pad with him. In the pages
he has written the probable choices of the guests - e.g. tea/ coffee/ juices,
or Dosa / Omelet etc. The idea behind this strategy is this: he will show this paper to the guests and he can serve them quickly. Many a guests of this hotel
have been impressed by him in the last four months of this hotel's opening.
Before joining this hotel, Syed was working with The
Westin, Hyderabad.
There, he worked for a year in the In Room Dining
Service. This active Volleyball Player reaches the hotel in his hero Honda CBZ
bike.
Hyderabad born Syed has studied up to the 12th standard.
Saurabh Kumar,
Assistant F&B Manager of this hotel observes: "As the SHI's are unable to to speak, they have no time for gossiping at work; and since they are unable to listen, what
others say about them is completely irrelevant for them. Which is why, they are 100%
focused at their work; once trained, an EWD is better than a normal employee.
Most of the SHI's in the hotel do come on their bikes; they are
very active in social media, especially Facebook. They do have a special Whats app group for the SHI's. Importantly, they do have very strong bonding between
them".
