FROM THE CIDADE DE GOA.....1

THE "FACE" OF  THE  FRONT OFFICE

"His flawless follow up is the first thing; the way he owns the department is another “says Divya Dayya, The Learning and Development Manager, Cidade de Goa. He he will always  remind his seniors proactively on the special requirements of the guests".

Divya was answering to my query on the qualities of James Adhi, Senior Supervisor, Bell Desk at Cidade de Goa.

Studied up to eighth standard, James is presently, celebrating his 25th year with the hotel. First he joined this hotel as a Security Guard; his hawk like vigil and diamond hard integrity was promptly observed and noted by the management; he proved further his loyalty to the organization by returning Rs.50,000/- that belonged to a guest…this was in 1994... Appreciation followed and  soon thereafter, he became part of the Cidade de Goa family.

For the last twenty one years, James is the FACE of the Front Office of this hotel. Unquestionably, one of the load bearing pillars of this hotel. Through his honesty and hard work plus astonishing accuracy at work, James won critical  acclaims from all quarters.

No prizes for guessing how many languages he knows?

God has been so kind to him. Circumstances were so favorable indeed .Sample this: Kannada is his mother tongue. Father is a Tamilian, did his schooling in Karnataka...and had a lot of Malayali classmates as friends, Konkani he picked up after coming to Goa, the coworkers from North India were instrumental for his Hindi, English from the overseas guests of this hotel, and Telugu from a friend from Andhra Pradesh.

He radiates enthusiasm at work; whether it is luggage assistance or offering a welcome drink or escorting the guests to their room ...you name any work, he will close loop the same flawlessly, execute the same to the satisfaction of the guests. Will respond to the requirements of the guests with utmost sincerity.

Now, the management has also has been very magnanimous in helping him grow. He was cathected  to earn his Driving License, help was offered when he got married; he was looked after very well when he got injured in his head during a Kabaddi match orchestrated by the hotel.

Like a disciplined soldier he performs his duties. Whichever shift he is working he will make it a point to be at the Taligao St Michael's church with unabated regularity. Every day. Day after day. He will become one with  Jesus for at least half an hour.

God loving James is married to Mary and is blessed with two sons -Wilson is a plus two student; Nelson, the second son is studying in ninth standard. Presently, Mary and sons are living in Vellore, Tamilnadu.
