FROM THE TRIDENT,GURGAON

TALENTED THAPA

"The guest was from London; his wife also was with him. They stayed only for three days in my hotel. For two full days I was with them for site seeing in Delhi; the guest was so happy on my service and he gave me a tip of rupees ten thousand ....this has been my happiest moment as a hotel chauffeur" says
Lok Thapa, (39) one of the star Chauffeurs in The Trident, Gurgaon.

"More than the money, I felt recognized for my sincere work. I felt valued. That day, wisdom dawned in me that I am also important; I also can touch the heart of the guest in my own way, in the capacity of a chauffeur. I also can serve".

Trident Gurgaon is celebrating its tenth year presently, while Thapa has entered into his tenth year of service with this iconic hotel.

Thapa is staying with his younger brother, (who works as a Chef in a three star hotel in Gurgaon) in a rented house in Gurgaon. Nepal born Thapa is married to Lakshmi and is blessed with two kids. Sunil (11) and Deepika (07). His father is a farmer and lives in Dhangadi village in Nepal.

"My wife and children live in Nepal. Ours is a joint family. There are a dozen members in my family including my wife and children, two brothers, their wives and children".

My General Manager is very supportive and understanding. The chauffeurs are looked after very well. As and when I am hungry, I can walk into the hotel cafeteria… Everything is taken care...what else I need...I can't ask God anything more than this".

Lok Thapa happens to be a hardcore fan of Hindi Cinema Hero Salman Khan. Listening to Ghazals is his main hobby.

"I have taken many a guests to the nearby hospitals many a times. It is really a fulfilling experience to serve a guest who has fallen sick. Oberoi Group has taught me to serve; that too from the heart, selflessly" says Lok Thapa.

I really liked the the following expression " "More than the money, I felt recognized for my sincere work. I felt valued. That day, wisdom dawned in me that I am also important; I also can touch the heart of the guest in my own way, in the capacity of a chauffeur. I also can serve"
