MOMENTS OF MINDFULNESS
"This is the most diverse close group" says Monica Suri, General Manager, Le Meridien, Kochi, "that I have ever attended in my professional life.
Each woman has been an example of strength and learning from their experiences.
This Conference was very enriching indeed". Monica was talking to me in
the lobby of Le Meridien, Kochi in the second week of May 2016. At that time,
she was fresh from the United States of America.
She had just returned after attending the four day “Starwood Global Female Leadership Program” held at W hotel, Los Angeles in April 2016. Starwood Hotel Asia Pacific had introduced a female talent road map that aims to increase female GM representation globally. Across the globe, 14 women General Managers from Starwood were cherry picked for this conference. Monica Suri was one among them. The Program was conducted by Shanbaugh University, the topic being: "Taking your leadership to the next level".
"You need to be memorable- a solid entity that guests will instantly recognise in the competitive landscape. With dedication, passion and resilience, the rewards you reap will far outweigh the challenges you face at work"- this is her advice to all budding hoteliers.
“Being in control of your life and having realistic expectations about your day -to-day challenges are the keys to good life, which is perhaps the most important ingredient to living a happy, healthy and rewarding life" quips Monica when I asked her to define success and happiness in life.
"For me, my family's support to my professional growth is the reason behind all my success. I am quite satisfied with the kind of balance I have maintained in terms of quality time - both at work and home and most importantly, at unwinding myself. I do manage to take time out for everything I want".
Indeed a proud moment. Not only for Le Meridien, Kochi, but also for all the Starwood Hotels in the Asia Pacific Region.
