FROM THE TAJ GATEWAY, JODHPUR

GUEST SERVICE STAR!

-"Today, I can speak in English very well”.

-“I can confidently meet any guest and interact with cheer and vigour”.

-“Because of my connect with the hospitality industry, my son Sakthi Singh got a good start in his career. He will finish his Industrial Training with Taj Gateway, Jodhpur on November 30th and has got a good start in food production”.

Bhawani Singh became very articulate when asked about the good things that had happened to him after joining the hotel industry.

40 year old Bhawani Singh is presently working as the Guest Service Associate in the Housekeeping department at Taj Gateway Jodhpur. I met him in my "Jaipur suite" where I was staying recently. What I found profoundly appealing in him is his high level of energy and his conviction to serve. Incidentally, he is one of the oldest employees of this hotel. He joined ten days before the hotel opened. It was Novotel at that time. That was in July 2000 and was later on taken over by Taj in 2009.

Most of the guests are very fond of him. No wonder he gets a guest appreciation almost every month. Nearly 12 to 15 guests appreciate him every year. Honestly I am not surprised at all. His guest connect is so flawless and I have experienced it first-hand.

Farming is his hobby. A Hero Honda Splendour Plus is his constant companion. He lives in a village just outside the city of Jodhpur. Educated till Class 10th Bhawani is married to Anop Kanwar.

He is blessed with two sons - Vikram Singh is the elder (20) and is an ITI student. The younger son is Sakthi Singh (18) who is presently doing his one year diploma in food production from Jodhpur.

He loves watching Hindi movies and listening to old Hindi songs. Amitabh Bhachan is his favourite hero. Mohd.Rafi and Lata Mangeshkar happen to be the singers he adores.

On 15 November 2015, I shall be checking out from Taj Gateway, Jodhpur……but Bhawani Singh will always be there in my memories.
