In
the wee hours of the day, 20 year old Shakir Chataiwala, The F&B team
member came in to my suite room (Sitara Mahal - room no 214 at The Leela Palace,
Udaipur). This happened in the first week of July this month, during my recent
stay in this iconic hotel.
I
was really impressed by his genuine, authentic nature. He connected with the
guest in me without any hesitation. Warm and welcoming he was. At 4.30am he looked fresh like a flower, though he was on a night shift. I enquired about
him. He hails from Ahmedabad. I liked his calm demeanour.
During
my five days of stay in this hotel, for three days, it was Shakir who served me my morning tea.
Day 02
It was almost the same time .....Shakir came up to serve my morning tea.
I
asked him. "What is that you like in me "?
Quickly
came the reply: "Sir, you are a peace-loving and cool headed person"
Yes. He was right. Absolutely right.
Day 03
Shakir
once again. While sipping my Assam Tea I asked him.
"What
is the purpose of life?"( quote unquote ....Zindagi Ka Maqsad Kya Hai ?)
Came his quick reply: -"Allah has sent me to this world to test my capabilities. This life is like an examination. I should pass by serving the guests to
the best of my abilities".
I
was quite impressed by his reply; also by his conviction to serve the guest in
me. Good boy. May God bless Shakir. He
is a great asset to The Leela Palace, Udaipur.
Moral: Connect with the
guest genuinely all the time. Dazzle and delight the guest in a short span of
time; always be friendly with the guests. Serve selflessly and flawlessly. Be
fearless at work.
Note: Shakir is seen in the picture with Asad, the F
& B Manager, The Leela Palace, Udaipur.
