AMAZING ANGEL
Jeevno Paul is 61 years young.
She nurses the souls of guests staying at ITC Grand Chola , Chennai. Her designation is Guest
Service Executive. But her role goes beyond her designation. She can forego all
her comforts when it comes to offering help to the employees of this hotel, more
importantly to the in house guests - especially when they fall sick.
This
acupressure specialist has been gifted with magical fingers replete with
healing powers. I myself have been the biggest beneficiary. This happened in
April 2014.
I
had dehydration while I was staying in this hotel….. was taken to the hospital at 4.00
am in the morning…..admitted to the emergency ward...was brought back to the
hotel. At around 9.00am Jeevno Paul came to my room. This was my first experience of how powerful she is in nursing and caring. By liaising with In Room Dining
she ensured that I ate the right food; she pressed my feet; beckoned a doctor,
gave medicines; stood there like a disciplined soldier. Her august presence
near me was so healing and energising. I really do not know whether she took care of me like my mother or Grandmother...I have no words...I am speechless on her
nursing skills and caring attitude with full hearted execution.
There
are many a guests who praise her services in embarrassingly superlative
language. I will just quote two such examples. One girl from Bengaluru staying in
the hotel suddenly fell sick; Jeevno Paul's magical fingers used the
acupressure tricks...she recovered ...the girl flew to Bengaluru and
shared the miracle with her mother; the excited mother reached Jeevno Paul over
phone; they even expressed their desire to come down to Chennai to meet her in
person...only to thank profusely for the timely care and help imparted by Jeevno.
One
more case: Tamilnadu's Srinivasan, popularly known as "Dhanalakshmi
Srinivasan" had a neck pain for nearly ten years. Here again, Jeevno Paul helped
him thru her acupressure skills and his neck pain 'went away with the wind'.
Srinivasan is very grateful to her with gratitude even today. Remember: Srinivasan
runs as many as 21 colleges in Tamilnadu.
Jeevno
Paul had joined the ITC Grand Chola in April 2012 as a pre-opening team member.
(the hotel was opened in September 2012). She opted for a voluntary retirement
from the Indian army; at the time of leaving she was a Lt.Col. She served in the military
nursing services wing.
She
has three degrees. First, BSc (Nursing) from Armed Forces Medical College,
Pune. The second BSc (Botany) from Stella Mary's College, Chennai. Tuticorin St
Mary's College gave her the degree in BA English Literature.
Now,
what is her role in ITC Grand Chola?
Accompanying
staff members to the hospital; attending the sick staff members or even guests (while
I was interviewing her, a call came from HR saying that a lady guest needs
medical attention in the banquet area. She left immediately , so that she could
attend the guest) helping the staff members to claim medical insurance,
orchestrating blood donation camps as part of the CSR activity of the hotel...to showing up at
" emergency" situation where medical help is required.
Her
only son Suresh is a businessman in
Dubai; her husband K S Kosalram is
running a Finance Company in Kovilpatti, Tamilnadu.
Jeevno
Paul has a big heart to help and heal; no wonder, God has given her an
opportunity to serve at ITC Grand Chola, an iconic palace hotel, one of the
best hotels in India, with an inventory of 600 rooms. Undoubtedly, she is a
great asset to ITC Grand Chola, Chennai.
