HEART WARMING  SERVICE

Yesterday, I had my dinner at the Oriental Blossom, the speciality Chinese Restaurant, at Radisson Hyderabad, Hitec City. This 75 seater fine dining restaurant specializing in Chinese-Cantonese and Schezwan, happens to be the best Chinese Restaurant in Hyderabad.

It was Minthang Kipgen (26) who served me. He is popularly known as Anthony. Yesterday was his birthday. And for me, it was an equally inspiring experience...it is for the first time, a birthday boy is serving me food in a five star hotel. This Manipur boy impressed me by his conviction to serve.

The hardships in Life made him more stronger. He got up every time, when he suffered a fall. He endured the difficulties in life. Perhaps that is why; he is very polished in serving the guests.  It has been the real heartwarming service that I had experienced yesterday.

Graduate in arts, Minthang landed in a restaurant in Hyderabad. That was in 2008; it was because of his father's ailment; for the treatment they needed money and he was forced to take up a job. His uncle in Hyderabad aided him in getting this job. That was the beginning. Today, this Manipur boy is Senior Guest Service Associate in The Radisson Hyderabad, Hitec City. That is how I met him yesterday.

Westin Hyderabad has been his next stop. In 2012, he got two offers - one from Abu Dhabi, the other from Yemen. The Yemen offer was from the Taj hotel. He opted for the Taj Hotel, but soon the social atmosphere started changing in Yemen, terrorists showed up their dirty face.... Minthang decided to return for good to India, before the situation got worsened. Finally, he is part of Radisson family now.

Minthang is with Radisson Hyderabad Hitec City since Dec 2014."

"Obey the instructions of Superiors; be honest and sincere at work, especially when you are serving the guests" that is his message to the juniors in this industry.

"Cafeteria food is good. Seniors are supportive, understanding and co operative. I am happy here" says Minthang,  a football player.

His family lives in Manipur. Both the elder brothers are married. Minthang is the youngest. Mom is a home maker.

"He is very polite; his voice is soft; he is very focused at Guest Service" says Kanhay Kumar Mandal, Asst Restaurant Manager.
