HEROES FROM THE NORTH EAST INDIA.....11

"FACE THE PROBLEMS HEAD ON"

When short, thin, child-like-faced Marshall (19) joined the Radisson Hyderabad, Hitec City, the HODs of this hotel had a very nice time at the cost of this Meghalayan boy.

The then HR manager was shocked and appalled to see a school boy like candidate coming into his cabin. First thing he asked him was his age. Another senior person volleyed a crude joke: "please check whether he is 19 years old; I do not want to be in the jail for the violations on child labor policies."Jokes were doing the rounds; but, 8th passed Marshall remembered only one thing: his beloved mother's words: be fearless in life; you must face the problems head on".

"He is very obedient" says Nune Madhavi, Housekeeping Supervisor, While, Jitender Asisstant Manager Housekeeping says: "he admits his mistakes without any inhibitions". "He is very brisk at work; very energetic all the time" opines Bharathi Perumal, EAM F&B, Radisson Hyderabad, Hitec City.

Marshall's father is a driver in Shilling (Meghalaya), Mom a housewife. Of the six siblings, two elder sisters are married; two younger sisters are studying; elder brother is a construction worker in Meghalaya.

"In Shillong I will not get half the salary which I am getting here. I am very happy here. Radisson looks after us very well" says Marshall.

I observed innocence in his replies. How many days it will take to reach Hyderabad from Shillong? I asked.

Two days and two nights. He replied. He also added: "It is for the first time, I am travelling in a train".

Playing football, listening to KHASI Music (Meghalayan) in his mobile are his hobbies.
