“EWDs KNOW THE BASICS VERY WELL"

"They come on time, they leave on time. In case, if the day is lean, then they will come and ask whether they could leave a little early. If you ask them to stay back, they will be too glad to do that as well.. All the EWDs in the F&B Department, know the basics very well. I have not seen them complaining on anything" says Shane Lionel, Assistant Manager F&B, Lemon Tree Hotel, Gachibowli, Hyderabad. He was volleying his general observations on the EWD's working with him.

"What I like in Rama Gurumurthy most says Shane Lionel, "is his readiness to obey and his pro activeness.  I will just instruct him to replenish water thru sign language. He will do it. Plus he will also see whether any other guest needs to be served water; tell him to do the clearance; he will do so, he will even start doing clearance for other tables also".

Kurnool born Rama Gurumurthy (22), a SHI  (Speech and Hearing Impaired) employee, working in Citrus Cafe, has been working in this hotel since November 2014.

Mumbai born Shane has been with Lemon Tree Hotels since 2012 August. He joined as a Management Trainee, worked in the Lemon Tree properties in Alleppey and Chennai, before joining this hotel.

"The first thing I will do when the EWD's come for duty at 7 am, I will ask them whether they had their breakfast or not. If the answer is NO, then I will ask them to have breakfast first, then come for work.

Intermediate passed Rama's family lives in Kurnool. His mother and brother also live there.
