ANGELS FROM NORTH EAST INDIA.....26

"I CAN ADJUST ANYWHERE"

Most of the North East Indian girls working in hotels, whom I have met/interviewed to feature in my blogs, have complained that it is very difficult for them to adjust with the food, climate, language, people... Oho... The list is long. If you ask me, in a way it is true also. But this Nagaland girl, a police constable's daughter Vitale Venuh says boldly: "I can adjust anywhere". She works as a Spa Therapist in the JIVA Spa in the Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad.

Remember: In the UK Conde Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards 2014, Taj Falaknuma Palace's Nawab-e-khaas signature treatment at JIVA Spa is listed in the ten iconic treatments from around the world that any guest should not miss.

Vitale who bagged the best therapist of the year in 2014 had scored 100%, as well as 92.5% in the last two external mystery audits conducted in this hotel. This speaks volumes on her talent as a therapist. The diploma in spa therapy from a Noida based institution ensured her a job in this Palace Hotel in April 2011. She also could sharpen her skills, from the three month JIVA training from Aurangabad. Vitale is quite adept in all the aroma therapies offered to the guests by this Palace hotel.

Ever since 2011, every year she will make it a point to fly to her home in Dimapur, Nagaland. Her father is a Police Constable, mom is a housewife. Her younger brother is five year old. All three live in Nagaland.

Watching Hindi serials and cooking is her main hobbies.

She happens to be a therapist most sought after by the guests. Just see what has happened today. She was attending my Workshop on Emotional Intelligence today. At 2pm Jai Kumar Udhani, the Learning & Development Manager of this hotel informed me that Vitale will not be able to attend the afternoon session as the guests have requested for her service. Actually I was supposed to interview her at 3.30pm during the coffee break. Later I was told that I would be meeting her by
5 pm; then it was stretched to 6 pm; finally when she came and met me, it was 7.45pm.

The moment she entered my room, the apologetic Vitale confessed: Sir, very sorry from 1 o’clock, till 7.30 pm, I was with the guests".

Should I say anything more? I have no words.

I am not surprised at all that the Taj Business Excellence Award (for being the best Spa Therapist all over the Taj Group of Hotels) sat softly on her shoulders in 2013-14.

The JIVA Spa team of Taj Falaknuma Palace under the able leadership of Madhavi Degala stands first in terms of guests satisfaction scores in the entire Taj Group of Hotels.
