FROM TAJ FALAKNUMA PALACE, HYDERABAD………………….1

AWESOME OSMAN

Meet Mohd Osman (66). The horse carriage rider at the Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad. Any guests get alighted at the clock tower, after security check proceeds to the horse carriage. Two horses guided by Osman will take the guests to the facade, the reception area. The three minute ride literally dazzles and delights the guests. This spectacular experience is very rejuvenating for the guests; it transports them to the Era of Nawabs. Case in point: ever contended Osman always radiates positive energy, greets the guests graciously; opens the door of the carriage with humbleness; yes, he loves his job; importantly, he loves the horses, as many as half a dozen of them.

"Right from childhood", says teetotaller Osman, "I have been very fond of horses". His home is just eight kms from Falaknuma Palace, but, Osman is wedded to this hotel. Once in a week, he will visit his home. You are mistaken if you are to think that his job is only to ride the horse carriage; taking care of all the six horses is his responsibility; feeding them, procurement of food and medicines, he will leave no stone unturned when it is related to his horses.

The roster for the horses also is decided by him. After working for two days, the horses will be allowed to rest. On a rotation six horses will serve the guests.

"Every Sunday, the doctor will be there for the weekly medical checkup for the horses" says Osman, who happens to be a strict vegetarian. Ever since the grand opening of this hotel in 2010, he has been serving the guests of this hotel.

The White horses are named Baba and Nawab, Sikander and Moti are black horses; Monu's colour is brown and Sonu is light black in colour.

Osman is an illiterate person; nevertheless he knows the meaning of ownership concept very well; he works flawlessly. In case, additional horse carriages are added, he will ensure that he himself takes as many guests as possible.

He is married; blessed with two sons. One is working in Saudi Arabia, the other son Wahid is working in the same hotel, in the Banquets. Of the three daughters two are married.

"So far no much incident has happened" replied Osman, when I asked him whether any incidents were there like horses running amok etc.

Remember: Osman is the most photographed person of this hotel. The shutterbugs of International Magazines know the news value of this soul.

Listen to Girish, The General Manager of this hotel,“Osman is very focused at work. He loves his job thoroughly. Honest and humble he is”.
