Kerala born Sabu Thomas, the male
Ayurveda therapist is so special in Kaya
Kalp ( ITC Gardenia, Bengaluru ) circles because, he has trained as
many as 15 male/females in Ayurveda therapy.
Incidentally
for the last two years his wife, Susan
Sabu also has been into
Ayurveda. She runs "Ayurveda Kerala Rituals", an Ayurveda clinic in
Bengaluru, where the services of an Ayurveda doctor is made available along
with medicines also.
His
first stint with ITC Gardenia lasted three plus years during 2009-12,
where nearly for an year he has been deputed to ITC Windsor. In this hotel
alone, he has trained ten persons.
In 2014
March, he joined back ITC Gardenia.
This happens to be his second stint.
He
hails from an agricultural family in Kerala. At the age of 25, he joined Kerala
Ayurveda Ltd, a 27 bed hospital, as a trainee therapist in Aluva, near Kochi. That
was the beginning. Today, Thomas has completed two decades as a therapist.
"In
traditional Ayurveda, there is no cross gender massage. We follow the same in Kaya Kalp also. We have nowadays, more lady guests
who evince interest in Ayurvedic rituals" says Sabu Thomas.
"Abhyanga",
"Sirodhara", and "Pada Abhyanga" are the most sought
after rituals in Kaya Kalp" informs Sabu Thomas, “the centuries old
treatment, "hot herbal poultice" also has been liked by many a
guests".
