LESSONS LEARNT IN ONE YEAR'S TIME IN THE OBEROI ,GURGAON
Mizoram
girl Ruati ( 22), F & B
Assistant in The Oberoi, Gurgaon has
completed just one year in this hotel; but the lessons learnt are many, aplenty.
"
I used to speak very less; in an year's time, I am aware, that I have improved
a lot; earlier I had lot of fear; now, I fearlessly try my best to ensure
service recovery, without escalating the same to my supervisor" says Ruati
who is presently working in the Patisserie.
"That
was my second day in Patisserie, in May 2014. The guest had asked for a lamb
puff; by mistake, I had served Chicken Sausage Puff. My manager made me realise
my mistake. Believe it or not, from that one incident I had learnt many things;
my manager was neither angry with me; nor he shouted at me.
From
that day onwards, Ruati started working with more ownership concept. She
asserts that The Oberoi Group takes care of their staff members very well.
Ruati's parents are working with Doodarshan in MIzoram. Dad is a programmer,
while mother is a program setter. Both the younger brothers are studying.
Neha
Agarwal, Asst Manager at the Oberoi Patisserie opines on Ruati: "Ruati is
very intelligent, soft spoken but highly observant. She is completely focused
on her work, all the time".
In
return, when asked about Neha
Agarwal, ,Ruati replied: Nehaji can solve things easily; she takes decisions
very quickly; every day she teaches me new things; I am learning a lot from her"
What
is Ruati's dream?
"I
would love to work in any of The Oberoi's property, outside India. I am looking
forward to that to happen.
Of
course, that will be another learning experience for Ruati. Whatever happens in
this world, first it will happen in the mind; then it will really happen. I
will not be surprised at all, in case, if Ruati lands up in any of the
properties of Oberoi in any one of the foreign countries.
