FROM THE FORTUNE SELECT EXCALIBUR, GURUGRAM

          UNASSUMING ASHOK

He is so unassuming. A very silent worker. He trains people working under him very well who in turn regard him so much. Many working with him are not to know that he has completed three decades as a Kitchen Stewarding (KST) Manager.

Ashok Kumar Sharma (52), Kitchen Stewarding Manager at Fortune Select Excalibur, Gurugram is known for his everlasting spirit to finish the day's work silently. He allows his work to speak for himself.

He joined JP Hotels in New Delhi as an Executive in Kitchen Stewarding in 1983. In just two years he rose to become the Kitchen Stewarding Manager there. Fortune Select Excalibur is his 10th organisation. He was the fifth person to join this hotel. Right from the project stage, he is wedded to this hotel. Before joining here he worked in five other hotels in NCR as the KST Manager.

Ashok started his career in the HR department in JP Hotel, New Delhi. That is the time he came to know that Kitchen Stewarding Managers have a great demand in the market. He switched to Kitchen Stewarding, and in two years, his passion paid him rich dividends. He started managing the entire show in KST. In other words, he never worked under anybody thereafter.

Sanjiv who was working under him as a pot washer for six years - went on to become a Chef specialising in South Indian cuisine. That’s an excellent example of how people working under him have grown in this hotel.

"Yes, he trains people working under him very well" endorsed Brand Master Chef Inder Dev fully. “he is very knowledgeable is one thing, he is dedicated to his work is another" says Chef Inder.

Ashok's job responsibilities include managing the highest standards of hygiene and sanitation in the kitchen and other assigned areas. He ensures the availability of kitchen equipments in an excellent working condition for necessary food production and F&B service.

He is married to Mithilesh Sharma, a house wife. He is blessed with two sons - Praveen Sharma (Purchase Manager in ITC Grand Bharat, New Delhi and Harish Kumar Sharma (runs a Gift shop in Uttam Nagar New Delhi).
Watching cricket matches is his main hobby.

He leaves the hotel every day by 9 PM after streamlining the dinner related operations. He starts his day at  9 AM everyday.
