FROM THE LEMON TREE PREMIER, HI-TECH CITY, MADHAPUR, HYDERABAD

“IF WE HELP OTHER HUMAN BEINGS, ALLAH WILL HELP US!”

"You must help them (the Speech and Hearing Impaired people - also known as SHI) without expecting anything in return. Then, they will also get ahead in life and in turn Allah will bless you" these words of his father ring in his ears even today. These golden words were spoken by his father when he was just 13. After two years, he started on his mission of helping the SHI‘s ……and that journey continues even today …

This is the story of Shaik Mohammad Moin Uddin – popularly known as Moin today.

I met Moin (37) today (05 November 2016) in my workshop at Redfox, Hyderabad. I was conducting a session for the SHI team members from all three Lemon Tree Hotels in Hyderabad - and Moin was assisting me as the Indian Sign Language Interpreter. He is level B trainer certified by NIHH (National Institute for Hearing Handicapped).

In today's workshop 19 SHI’s participated. What I found profoundly appealing in Moin was his ability to communicate with the SHI team members effortlessly. He has been a Freelance Trainer for the last four years. He specialises in training the SHI community and can speak fluently in four languages - English, Hindi, Urdu and Telugu.

"Moin has been helping our staff members since 2013. He is enormously helpful" expressed Narotam Singh - Area General Manager of Lemon Tree Group of Hotels, Hyderabad. Lemon Tree has three hotels in Hyderabad. The fourth one will be open in another five months. In their three hotels (Lemon Tree Premier and Redfox in Hi Tec City, Lemon Tree, Gachibowli 70 plus SHI members do work very efficaciously). .. In all the three hotels, most of the staff members have been trained by Moin in Indian Sign Language.

"If we help other human beings especially the SHI’s Allah will help us. This is what I have learnt in life" says Moin.

Moin was very appreciative that Lemon Tree gives so much importance to sign language.
"Many parents disown their children who are SHI’s. This is very unfortunate" laments Moin. He also added that India needs awareness had to be created on sign language. Importantly, his father himself has a hearing impairment.

"We always count on his co-operation to help the SHI’s on their improvement areas” informs Srinivas Kadadi, General Manager, Redfox.
He is married to Arshia Begum - a housewife. Gardening is his hobby.
