FROM THE WESTIN GURGAON, NEW DELHI

THE RISING STAR!

Amit Saxena, F&B Director Westin Gurgaon is a reticent person. He always talks to the point. But yesterday (04 October 2015) he surprised me.

When I spoke high of Sumit Sharma - Manager Restaurants he took off spontaneously…..He opened up like never before.

Sample his comments: "Sumit is a leader who always accepts criticism with a positive note and acts on the feedback flawlessly. These are biggest and most important competencies of a leader".

Amit continued: "Sumit’s biggest strength lies in managing his people. He believes in standing right in front to get shot for anything that goes wrong and will even brief the  team as to why he got shot. He can also suggest alternate solutions at the same time.”

"Sumit's most important quality is that he always fights for the right thing which is at the core of Starwood Values –“Do What Is Right". Undoubtedly, he has lived this value of Starwood up to 200% of what is expected out of him".

Now who is Sumit Sharma?

IHM Lajpat Nagar pass out Sumit started his hospitality journey with Hyatt Regency, New Delhi - as a Steward in 2004.He then moved to Shangri-La New Delhi as a Team leader followed by DLF Emporio Restaurant at Vasant Kunj, New Delhi as Assistant Restaurant Manager. He then re-joined Hyatt Regency, New Delhi in his second innings with them as an Asst.Restaurant Manager. He then finally joined Westin Gurgaon in November last year. Since then he is here and has created a niche for himself.

This 33 year F&B professional is married to Neha Sharma and is blessed with two beautiful daughters - Sana (06) and Saanchi (02).
Listening to music, watching movies and cricket are his hobbies.

I do fully agree with Amit Saxena on his observation on Sumit.
May God bless Sumit Sharma and his family in abundance. I do wish him good luck and Godspeed.
