From The Westin Gurgaon,New Delhi

DISCOVERING THE BEAUTY OF SIGN LANGUAGE !

Date : Aug 31 2015 , Time: 9. 30 AM

I was on my way to  The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa from New Delhi Airport. On my way, I hopped into Seasonal Tastes restaurant at The Westin Gurgaon,New Delhi. The purpose was to meet Musab, the Training Executive at The Westin Gurgaon,New Delhi. While I was waiting in the restaurant, I observed
a young steward at work. He was  full of enthusiasm and glee. He was very joyous at work. It was evident from his body language that he loves his job.  He caught my attention for sure. I reached out to him and said …..

"Excuse me, could you please inform Musab”.......

Before I could finish my sentence, the young steward informed me through  sign language that he was speech and hearing impaired. For a second I was dumbstruck. By that time Musab had already reached my table. That was the time, from Musab I came to know more about Kuldeep Verma (27). Read on  -

Kuldeep’s beginnings -  After passing Class 10th, he lapped up a Two year Diploma in fitter trade from ITI. He  worked in Hero Honda for two years after which he joined the  The LemonTree Premier in Delhi. Since July last year he has been working in The Westin Gurgaon,New Delhi ………..with unabated enthusiasm.

His Role  @ Seasonal Tastes: Upkeep of the Buffet, replenishment, back area upkeep, picking up items from the stores ……….always with ‘ First Time Right’ attitude.

His Qualities - He is very prompt, strives tirelessly, works with clock like precision,  executes silently  ……………..and with  dignity and  diligence.

His Attitude : Like that of a determined bullock and ready to wade through every difficulty . For him difficulties are perfectly natural. He rides a 2 wheeler to work ………….and carries a lot of positive attitude along.

His Hobbies : Cricket. He can bat and bowl equally well .

He bowled me over  as well in a different context.  Sample this : When Sumit Sharma (Manager Restaurants) told him that I have invited him over to my room – he had to just show  Kuldeep the sign of a ‘ Tilak’ . Razor sharp Kuldeep picked it up in a nanosecond. ( By the way a ‘ Tilak ‘ is a mark worn on the forehead. I always wear a red vermillion ‘ Tilak ‘ on my forehead which is what Kuldeep related to ).

His Gift in life : Deepika and Angel. Kuldeep is married to Deepika who is also speech and hearing impaired .

They are blessed  with a two year daughter Angel.

Angel can speak as well as listen ( God has been so compassionate ! )
