ANGELS FROM NORTH EAST INDIA......20

"OBEROI GRAND STAFF MEMBERS ARE VERY FRIENDLY"

"We have a very young team. The staff members are very friendly; as of now, my ambition is to become the F&B Manager in The Oberoi group itself" says  Nagaland born Naro (21), an Operational Trainee, F&B Department in The Grand Oberoi, Kolkata. She has been working in this hotel since June 2014.

"In the campus interview, The Oberoi Grand, Kolkata happened to be first hotel to interview us. Immediately after the interview General Manager George Kuruvilla informed me that I have been selected. I was so happy" disclosing on her dream to join the Oberoi group, very talkative Naro continued: "in fact, I learnt more on Oberoi when Chinyo from our college got selected in the year 2012 as Operational Trainee. (Nagaland girl Chinyo, 2nd year Operational Trainee, is presently working in bakery in this hotel). Then our food production teacher of our college Bendang also told us on this hotel; as he had worked in Baan Thai Restaurant as part of the production team; Front Office teacher Alem Jungla madam has also been working in Oberoi group of hotel before joining our college. All these helped me to energise the thought of being part of Oberoi hotel even when I was the first year student".

Naro completed her Hotel Management course from Global Open University in Nagaland. She speaks English and Hindi and can understand Spanish. Her father is an Aircel employee in Nagaland, mom runs a small grocery shop, and elder brother is also employed. They all live in Nagaland.

Reading comic books, tasting different cuisines, and of course, talking a lot with her friends are Naro's main hobbies.

"Kolkata is very safe for people from North East India when compared to places like Delhi,Bengaluru" opines Naro. "My parents are little concerned about me, as I am away from the home; but I am very confident that I can become successful in this industry. Once in a week I will talk to my family over phone".

Naro thinks big. Here, she is not narrow-minded.
