ANGELS FROM THE NORTH EAST INDIA………16

ENERGETIC ELI

"I feel so safe here; my co-workers are very co-operative and supportive; sometimes I will get angry with them sometimes I will cry; but, they are very caring and understanding" says Elizabeth(22) popularly known as Eli. She is working as Housekeeping Associate in The Oberoi, Gurgaon since Sept 2013.

Disclosing more on how she has been discouraged by people in Mizoram, her native place, Eli added: "everyone told me not to go to Gurgaon saying that Delhi and Gurgaon are the most unsafe places especially for girls from North East. Thank God, in Oberoi,Gurgaon, we feel very safe. After my work, I will go to my residence (hotel accommodation). On weekly off days only, I will go for shopping".

There is one more reason Eli is feeling so safe in Oberoi, Gurgaon. That is, another Mizoram girl, her college mate Ruati, presently working in The Oberoi patisserie, happens to be her roommate also. Kya baat hai!!!!!!

"Last July, I had been to my home in Aizawl, Mizoram", says Eli while explaining how difficult it is to travel by train. From Delhi to Guwahati by train, it will take 27 hours; from there to Aizawl by bus another 15 hrs... Oh it is very fatiguing..... So, I flew to home by air… But it is very expensive".

This Hotel Management graduate has been more fond of F&B Operations. Nevertheless, she finds joy in her work, not only in serving the guests, but also helping the co-workers. "I feel very joyous when I help my co-workers; in turn they also are very understanding".

Eli's Father is a businessman; Mom is a housewife. Elder sister is a teacher in Govt Primary School in Mizoram. Younger sister is a Social Worker." I have not met my younger sister for the last five years" says Eli.

Watching Korean movies is her hobby. During her student days in Hotel Management College, it was her dream that she should join Oberoi group.

Yes, everything happens twice in this world. First it will happen in the mind; then it will really happen. Eli's dream is just one to quote.
