DISCIPLINED SOLDIER

 “He is a very disciplined person. He is very focused at work” says Chandrasekhar, Linen Supervisor, ITC Windsor Bengaluru on Mohan Kumar(32) deputed at the laundry section of this hotel. 

SSLC passed,  Tumkur born Mohan never curses the fate for having given low vision to his eyes. On the other hand, he is very proud that he has the good fortune of taking care of his elderly parents very well. His father has been a farmer, mother a housewife. His two elder sisters have been married.

Handling the calendar pressing machines (that presses the Bed Sheets to Napkins to Table Clothes etc) and Tumbler Machine (that helps drying all the clothes including staff uniforms) is his main duty.

Calendar pressing machine is handled by four persons at a time. However, Mohan handles the drying machine alone. As and when he reaches the shop floor, he kick starts his work by sweeping and mopping the entire laundry area. Segregating each and every thing (like napkins, table clothes, bed sheets) is yet another job he does with finesse.

Promptly he collects all washed clothes so that the tumbler machine which he handles, will give it back after drying. Though low vision impaired, Mohan always offers quality work. Will never waste a single minute at the shop floor. Always he is present in the laundry area, like a disciplined soldier. He has been associated with ITC Windsor since 2008.

CHENNAI BROTHERS

Suresh (45) and Shanmugam(38) both are speech and vision impaired. They are deputed at the Laundry Dept of the ITC Windor,  Bengaluru.

Both were born in Chennai, Tamilnadu. Both have passed SSLC. Both are football buffs. Suresh joined ITC in 2006 while Shanmugam came up in 2008. Suresh is married and blessed with two children Vasan(15) and Priyadarshini(9) while Shanmugam is a bachelor. Suresh is a Carrom champion, also plays Cricket, Football, Badminton and Table Tennis. While, Shanmugam plays only football, Suresh is an expert tailor too. Watching SUN TV happens to be the main hobby of Shanmugam. Super star Rajnikant is his favourite hero.

Suresh’s parents and children are normal, also their younger brother  who happens to be the priest at a temple in Vadapalani, Chennai.

“My son Vasan is very good at studies. He scores 90%” informs Suresh.

Which team will win the world cup football? I asked

Suresh asserts it will be Brazil while Shanmugam votes for Argentina.
