GOD'S GRACE....WHAT ELSE...
All
knowing God's ways are mysterious.... Chef
Sumesh Mohanan will endorse and agree to this point fully. Here is the
story........
Nine years
back this had happened - Chef
Rajkumar Bhatia who has been working with The Oberoi Motor vessel VRINDA,
backwaters, Kerala has been a God-loving person. Often he used to visit the
Vishnu Temple at Thanneermukkom Alleppey district, Kerala. The Priest Sumodh has been very close to Chef
Rajkumar...their relationship has been excellent.
One day,
Priest Sumodh told Chef Rajkumar: My younger brother Sumesh is also a
Chef.....that is all.....things started falling in its place.
Chef
Rajkumar called Chef George, The
Executive Chef, The Oberoi Grand, Kolkata and enquired whether there are
any vacancies for South Indian Chefs in any of the Trident/Oberoi hotels
anywhere in India or Abroad.
Chef
George replied: yes, we need one South Indian Chef in Kolkata. Hereafter things
started moving faster........Sumesh was requested to attend an interview at
Trident, Kochi...food trial followed....it was
a green flag.....finally Sumesh landed Kolkata.....the rest is history.
Kerala
born Sumesh, after passing Plus II, opted to go for the one year cookery
course. In 2006, He joined The Oberoi Grand, Kolkata; at that time, he was
whipping up, only South Indian Delicacies. Today, he takes care of the entire
Indian section.
It was Chef Sourav who cathected Sumesh to
bite more than he can chew... Sumesh obeyed him in full reverence like a
disciplined soldier. Indeed, it paid rich dividends to him.
Myself and
Sumesh, both of us got connected with The Oberoi Grand, Kolkata in 2006...
Sheer providence took us there....God's grace...what else?
Sumesh is
a highly talented, gifted Chef. He is a great asset to The Oberoi Group.
