WEDDED to "BAAN THAI"! 

"I have served him twice" says Karma Tshomo (24), one of the two F & B Supervisors, responsible for running the BAAN THAI RESTAURANT in Oberoi Grand, Kolkata.

This Bhutan girl has been referring to the visit of the former Prime Minister of Bhutan His Excellency Jigme.Y.Thinley.

Another memorable experience has been, when Juhi Chawla, the renowned Actress visited Baan Thai restaurant.

"I was 2nd year Operational Trainee; it was my first day in Baan Thai, as the Station Holder. Juhi Chawla was very happy and satisfied; but, honestly speaking, I was very nervous that day".

"Once, myself and Parinita had served a big table, can you guess who were the guests? It was the top management team of Oberoi group of hotels. Some senior members from the Corporate Office also were there. Thank God, amazingly, it has been a flawless service...zero defect" says Karma with a chuckle.

Clad in a light blue Thai dress, Karma spoke very confidently. She holds a Degree in Hotel management.

"My father always scolds me for not saving money" Karma admits her weakness on over spending. Her father works with Royal Bhutan Army. Her mom is a homemaker. Younger sister is studying in school.

"Once in a year, I will go to my home in Bhutan. I will spend around 14 to 20 days there", says Karma, who has been a Basketball player of the School Team in Bhutan.

"Two days back, Princess from Thailand, Maha Chakri had visited our restaurant; myself and Divya had served them; we thoroughly enjoyed serving them" says Karma.

Thai cuisine is rich and varied and characterised by attention to detail. The colors and the textures of Thai food are unique in themselves. Combined in a rich blend of salty, sweet, sour and pungent flavors. All over the world, Chefs find fresh inspiration in flavors and techniques and diners are discovering its remarkable diversity.
